re-install: no metadata

Hi,
My computer has had problems, so I saved my Calibre library and reformatted computer (ugh!) and then re installed Calbre.

I got the books back into Calibra but I have the covers and the books but no metadata. There is a file on the bottom of the book list that says it is metadata. How do I get it in Calibre?

Oh, and I do have all the metadata on my ipod. I put all of the books in Stanza on my ipod before I formatted my computer. If there was a way to go from stanza on the ipod touch to Calibre on the computer, that would work.

If you copied the Calibre Library, then after re-installing it all you should have to do is point it at the new location for the library. The Calibre metadata database (metadata.db) is saved in the Calibre Library folder.

I hate to ask, but how do I "point it"... I mean I get that I need to tell Calibre where the library is, but don't know exactly how.

If you are running the latest release of Calibre you can simply click on the "Library" icon.

Yes, I did that. I added books from the "add books" button from the library I had saved. Maybe that is not what I should have done. Dang, I'll get the hang of this yet.

run the wecome wizard from the little arrow beside preferences. It will let you browse to your library location

You should not go through the Add Books step. If you simply use the Library button to switch Calibre to the Saved library (or a copy you have made) then it will find both the books and metadata.

You guys are my heroes! All my metadata is there and I don't have to do it manually. I would never have known how to do that on my own.
