My SONY Reader is made in Japan I like products made in Japan and Germany.

Ionics Ems is listed on the page and it is an electrinics manufacturer based in the Phillippines. I assume thay are the actual sub-contractor.

Well... I once bought an umbrella in Tokyo once... Fairly pricey for what it was but in its first rainstorm it disintegrated over a 25 minute period into a collection of sticks and canvas... There's also been others that have fairly debunked the "everything in Japan is of high quality" myth...

I've also bought some German products that sucked... But every country has products that are well made and products that are junk...

Of course, nothing is perfect but overall products made in Japan and Germany are perceived as high quality by the world.
