How often do you Power Down your Nook
I try to power it down at least twice a week. I think it's good for the OS and the device itself to get a rest from time to time and I think it helps overall in performance.
How about you guys? |

I power down only when I freeze the screen.

Is there a good reason, technically, for powering down occasionally?

I power down my Nook every night. I also need to recharge it every day or every other day, with the battery power down to anywhere from thirty to sixty percent. I'm not sure if my turning it off nightly saves much power, but I figure I have to recharge it often enough as is.
As with my Cybook, the battery doesn't last anywhere close to the touted eight thousand page turns, even in airplane mode. Extrapolating from my usual battery drain (I never use it until the battery is completely drained), I might get at most one thousand page turns on a complete charge. I'd love to have a battery that truly lasts for even half the promised amount. |

a total power down the screen goes blank, no screen saver or anything. If you have to charge your battery every other day, then you have a bad batteryh and would have them send you a new one or at least swap one out at BN. that's is way to short, way too short, bad battery. |

I restart it everytime there is a glitch, the most common one is wi-fi bug.
It means, wi-fi shows that it is enabled, but no WEB page works. |

I power down the device before I go to sleep every night. What's the point of keeping it on while you're not using it? (Although I suppose an argument can be made that more power is drawn booting it up than leaving it sleeping for 12 hours -- however, I haven't seen any figures to support that.)
While I haven't done any methodical measurement, I have perceived the battery to last longer with the nightly shutdowns. |

No, the nook is designed to stay on and in sleep mode when not in use. If you aren't in airplane mode, your nook will occassionally wake up and get updates to the daily.

I powered down my nook every night. In my case, my nook drains 0.5% per hour in sleep mode. Power on/off takes roughly 2% of the power, which is equivalent to 4 hours of sleep mode. As long as I won't turn my nook back on in 4 hours, I am ahead in the battery conservation.
