hi from germany!

I love this forum and have been lurking around reading about all the different ebook readers. Now I really want to buy one but cant seem to find my dream ebook reader: something like the new kindle but with a touchscreen! Oh and I want to be able to read scientific papers comfortably but dont mind scrolling to the side to see the next column. I dont need anything larger than 6" as I already have a netbook. HOwever I do want something larger than my 2.5" mobile phone screen where I have been reading ebooks on up till now!!
Hope I will manage to find sth soon

to MR, 901hw!

Reading scientific papers comfortably on a device with a screen not larger than 6'' ? Well that is some task. Personally, I dropped that idea and went for something substantially bigger and different instead (eDGe) but thats for work only. Reading for leisure is still better on the old Hanlin V3 I got.

But with some new devices coming out and new firmwares you might find something. Did you have a look at the pocketbook 302 readers or the Onyx Boox 60 ?

All the best from the Baltic Sea!

Thanks! I have looked at both but what bothers me about the pocketbook 302 is the screen, would have to wait for the 602 or 603 (by the way werent they supposed to be out yet?!) as I do read a lot outdoors and dont want any glare or mirroring. Well I have had the opportunity to read scientific papers on an iphone 3gs and that worked really well. Also even when I read them in print I anyway always print my papers in A5 size which isnt much bigger than the small screens. I dont think I would have a problem with that, I just need a good zoom and scrolling function. Also the main reason for a touchscreen for me would be if I want to correct papers and thesises (I should be able to export the corrections) - at the moment I do that on my 9"netbook and PDF-Xchange Viewer -, and to be able to draw simple diagrams and notes that can be exported.

Well that sounds very much like the enTourage eDGe to me (and my reasons for getting that thing where quite similar) but that device is for deskreading and comes with a pricetag that hurts.

Don't know about a smaller reader that would fullfill your needs yet.

Thank you. Well I had thought about the entourage edge but I dont need it. At the moment I already have a netbook for any real work but I want an ereader which I can comfortably carry around with me everywhere. As I also read a lot of normal books I dont want to get something bigger just for the scientific papers. Which means the 6" would be the largest I would be willing to go re size and weight so I can just pop it in any handbag. I think I will try out the new Kindle. Do you think Kindle might include a touchscreen next year in their 6" version?
