Extreamly slow on iPad
Hey guys, please help!
I'm using the calibre software to convert pdf, .doc, and html books to ePub for use with iBook on the iPad. The content all seems to make it over just fine but it is INSANELY slow! It takes MINUTES to turn a page. However, it does not appear to be a device problem because my non-calibre ePubs work just fine! Also if I put the very same PDF on, iBook works very well with it. However I really would like to have all of my books in the same place ![]() Please let me know how I can fix this. Thanks for everything! |

Also a side note: when the pages do load, there is a LOT of space in between the paragraphs.

First convert the books and view them in calibre's reader to see how they look. Second calibre doesn't convert doc files. Any doc files you think calibre converted must have been RTF files with a .doc extension. To help you we need you to focus on one book because what you're seeing is not a universal problem. I suggest that you read PDFs using and app appropriate for reading PDFs. By their nature they are often do not convert easily to a completely reflowable format like epub. Calibre converts html to epub fine. But like with any book garbage in = garbage out. Start by converting one book, view it in calibre, if it looks good transfer it, then read it on your iPad. Let us know the specifics of where you run into problems. |
