New vs. Used Nook

Just curious, sometimes there are deals on used Nooks on ebay or craigslist. Is there a way to delete all previous material and "start fresh?" I'd rather have a new one, but if I can get, maybe $40 off the price of a new one, I would consider it.

Opinions???

New units come with a warranty. And some credit cards have auto extended warranties for such equipment. Having a unit that is warranteed is worth an extra "forty bucks" to me. personally.
