High-Capacity Memory Card Access

I'm hoping to evolve to getting a high-capacity card (1gb or more) for my next PDA so that I can access a couple of 500k text files I use.

My first concern (other than which bank to rob to pay for one) is access times for retrieving data. Seems the biggest hangup here is finding a program that will read-but-not-retrieve the file. Exists? Second, how fast/slow might this be, not in terms of exact speeds but reasonable waits. Text file in question holds a zilliion auction/sale records of rare books, and the use would be while out perusing book stores I'd whip my PDA out and check for bargains. Ha. But anyway, wondering if this is doable using a PDA and such a large text file.

It would probably work better loaded into a database such as Mobiledb, then you could easily search for records, I have one with 4500 records that works well. Would be interested in looking at this file or converting it for you as I like collecting books, when I have the money <VBG>
