Reading on an Opus while commuting...
Hello everyone,
I am new to e-ink readers and I am looking to buy the Opus. However, I would be using it while commuting to and from work. Since I work the night shift, I was wondering if it would easy for me to read a book with the reader in the bus? Also, is the screen reflective? Thank you. Icewyng |

I read in the metro a lot, never had much problem.
That depends on what light you have in the bus. If you can read on a book, you can read on the opus. If you can't read a book, you won't be able to read on the opus. |

Thank you for your replies!
I was a bit concerned that, since it was a screen, it would be hard to read. I read novels and magazines everyday in the bus and I have no problem at all. It is never so crowded too so I guess that would not be an issue as well. @mgmueller Funny you mention the PB36o since that was the other reader I was considering. Price being an issue for me, the Opus seemed like the better option. |

@ mgmueller: Usually I let my right thumb rest on the button in the middle to hold the Opus. The same place where the navigation button ist located. So I actually even need to do less to turn pages since it's just a minor movement of the thumb.
I still prefer the Opus to the the PB 360, both in terms of speed and readability. |

I use the Opus while commuting, by bus or subway, and you can turn pages only with a finger while you catch it with the same hand. And with the acelerometer you can put buttons on the left or on the right, depending on the hand which is free.

UPDATE: Please ignore. I posted this to the wrong thread.
Does either reader have a place to attach a strap? With my sleep apnea, I have a tendency to doze off while reading; a wrist-strap on my old reader saved it from many a fall ![]() Last edited by Nathanael; 07-20-2010 at 01:08 PM. Reason: Posted to wrong thread. |
