Hello - this is my first post and first visit to your sie and I do so need your help! I have a Sony PRS-505 which I am perfectly happy with. However, I recently had to reboot my laptop and now cannot reload the Sony eBook Library which lets me transfer books from pc to e-reader. It starts to load on to laptop and then message comes up to say Wizard was interrupted and no change has occured to my programmes - in order words it did not load. I've tried disk out at work and there is no fault on that. My laptop used to take this software - suddently it doesn't! Any ideas would be so appreciated.

Hi Pauline and welcome.
I've never used the Sony software to load books to my 505, I use Calibre. If you really can't get the Sony software loaded that would be an alternative option. |

Hi Pauline,
You could try to go to the sony ebook site and download new software (there have been some updates to the software - possibly since you purchased). I too use Calibre. I find it is much more stable than the Sony software for what I want to do. |

Good to have your company, Pauline. I had similar problems with my 505 eighteen months or more ago. Then I found MobileRead and, through the site, Calibre, and I've never had anything but plain sailing ever since. Another wee tip is to be sure, also, that you are using a mains charger. You cannot rely on a cable-charge and the 505's battery meter is notoriously over-optimistic in its readings. Good luck and best wishes. Neil

Just a line to all of you to thank you for your welcome! I've successfully downloaded Calibre and everything seems to be okay now. I really enjoy the Sony e-reader especially for holidays but also in the hot weather the UK is having at the moment its easier to read outside on this rather than the laptop.

"UK" "Hot weather"; hmmm, I never thought I see those words in the same sentence.

Its true I tell you - I live near Cambridge and this year we had unprecedented snow and now we have just had and are still enjoying six weeks of 30 deg ish. Tomorrow its the beach, not California but equally warm at the moment - the North Sea[!!] - and Iexpect to burn!!!
