Cool Intro and question on charging the PRS-300
Hello,
My name is Henri; I live in Rome, Italy and have bought a SONY PRS-300 a few days ago.
Question: can I use the USB cable to recharge the Reader on any computer that happens to be turned on (in addition to the one where I've installed the Reader Library programme)?

Welcome to MobileRead.

Yes, the USB cable will charge the PRS-300 (as long as the computer does not go to sleep -- some computers will turn off the power to USB when they go to sleep).

The computer does not need to have the Sony software installed for it to charge the battery. (A red LED will turn on in the top of the reader when it is charging.)

As your ebook library grows, you may want to try Calibre (calibre-ebook.com). They also have their own sub-forum in MR. I highly recommend it.

Ciao Henri and welcome to MobileRead. I do recommend the AC adapter for charging up your Sony. It charges quicker and you can read while it is charging.

Good to have your company, Henri. If you hit any snags with your Sony, as I did in the early days, you might well find it's because USB charging isn't as effective as advertised. You may be doing yourself a favour by getting a mains charger. Best wishes. Neil
