Now, you might think about this what you want. I don't really want to discuss if the trip she did was right or not. She has finished it and it was a great accomplishment.

And I am envious of her - not that she sailed around the world (well parts of it) - just thinking of that makes me turn green and my stomach heave.

I am envious that she had a dream that she followed. Good on her. I am here, thinking about my dreams - and none of them is really important enough to me to make me pursue it against all odds and the media. And I don't think I ever had a dream like that. Not even one I discarded and lost along the way.

Wow. hadn't heard of her, but that's some voyage for a 16yo. It reminded me immediately of Jessica Dubroff. Obviously major differences, not the least of which is the happy ending for Jessica Watson (hmm... if you want your child to be adventurous, name her Jessica?).

I hear you on the dream thing though... sometimes it's amazing to think of the people who follow their dreams, against great odds.

Oh dear, Right for the bottle and for the company. I'll bring a Gewurtz Traminer that you might find not totally inadequate.

It is not envy, it is just a little pinch of frustration. That one is a very important ingredient to make great things. And it takes a little time to accomplish them. Sitting in the shade sipping and wondering if the temperature is perfectly right, that is a very good way of starting.
