Here is a link to the .bin files for 2.3.3 and 2.3.4
These are only for the Kindle 2 International http://rapidshare.com/files/38278881...2_gw_2.3.3.bin http://rapidshare.com/files/38279404...2_gw_2.3.4.bin 2.3.3 is standalone, 2.3.4 requires that you install 2.3.3 first. |

So am I, but there are a fair amount of people out there, myself included, who never received over the air updates for 2.3.3 and 2.3.4
I've never once received a single over the air update, myself. Since they no longer reside on the Amazon website (at least in an easily accessible location, I had to plum these from the back end) I figured it'd be nice to have them archived somewhere else. I only posted these a little bit ago and quite a few people have downloaded them already, so it must be helping some people. So, here they are. As soon as I get 2.5, I will post it up in an appropriate thread. ![]() Last edited by JohnnyTToxic; 05-02-2010 at 05:25 PM. |

I'm looking for 2.3.4, US version though. I've got both Kindles, US version before the international ones had been introduced. |

All you have to do is run a file recovery program "Recuva" by Piriform works best. When you get the automatic update over the air, the .bin file is downloaded to the root of your kindle and when the update is installed, the .bin file is automatically deleted. With any file system when things are deleted they are never truly gone until the physical location on the drive has another file written over it. When you delete something, the system just deflags that file location and file name, saying there is nothing here, feel free to put any new files at this location. Until that happens, you can run file recovery programs with a fair chance of recovering it. In short, if someone gets the update for K2i, dl Recuva for free, snag the recovered .bin file (if you're not sure, snag all files with .bin at the end) as soon as possible so that location doesn't accidentally get a file placed on top of it. If you can't figure it out, get in touch with me and I'll walk you through it and then post it up here for everyone else to enjoy. |

I thought you'd found it yourself on the web. I can't use Whispernet (US versions) here in Germany. So either I have to wait for my next trip to the US or have to download manually from Amazon or someone else. Amazon, for whatever reason, doesn't seem to put the updates on their website anymore. Do they want to encourage all the non-US users to buy international versions? But what about the tons of Americans, who already stated being out ouf reach of any reliable connection? Doesn't make sense to me. Either way, if we get a copy of the 2.5 .bin files then it'll take a load off of Amazon both financially and bandwidth-wise. |

I started a thread on Amazon forums saying that as it was out of Beta stage, they should simply make it available to download and save them whispernet fees. And make us happy. Amazon CS actually replied to my thread, and said it would be rolled out over wireless first. Dumb. Guess their servers wouldnt cope.
Thanks for the 2.3.4 - I had 2.3.3 but missed getting the 2.3.4 as it started to download via whispernet but I had the hacks on and it failed. I also posted your info on the kindelboards forum where a few people have the upgrade and maybe we might have some luck getting it now? |

![]() Don't know about you, but the difference between 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 on my kindle was pretty noticeable, especially with the reboot time. Which is nice, considering I'm going through this phase where I check for update, let it sleep, check for update, reboot, let it sleep, and so on. I have the feeling I'm not the only one. Thanks for all the help in spreading the word. |

I saw your post on Amazon and congratulated you! Interesting about all the downloads happening of the 2.3.3 and .4! CS do check comments, I suspect secretly they dont mind because in the long run it will save them $$. But they cant publically say that. Then if something 'goes wrong' they can say, Dont blame us!

Ah! So that was you... Okay, I got it now.
Hey, can you try to get a hold of "lulucello" on the Kindleboards forum? She claims to have the 2.5 for her K2i. It updated a few days ago, but it might not be too late. I'd reach out to her, but I've never really contacted her. |
