Can't help but wonder how many still use the K1
As a K1 owner since it first came out, I still have no reason to switch to the K2. I bought an extra battery just in case, but the original still is working fine. I use it a lot, have read more than 200 books, and it works like charm.
I suppose there is no way at all to really determine how many stick-in-the-muds like me still use the K1 only, but anybody care to hazard a guess? |

I still use my K1 - keep it at work to read on at lunch! Didn't want to keep lugging a Kindle to & from work.

I do. Bought mine used for $200 from Craigslist right after the K2 came out.
I just use it to read novels, and it's fine for that. Only gripe is how slow it is to look up words in the dictionary, go back to home, open a book etc.--but I don't do that stuff much anyway. It does the job for a light reading like me for sure. |

I had just given my fil the newest K2 for christmas, but he passed not long afterwards. I now have that so gave one of my K1s to my son and use the other one as my "purse" kindle. it goes to appointments, meetings, anywhere that I might have to wait around. the K2 is my at home, nothing happens to it, heavy duty reading Kindle

My wife got my K1 when I got my K2 - she has always been intimidated by technology but she took to it like a duck to water. I still like the contrast better on the original.

I have two Kindles which I bought on eBay in Australia when they first came out, and I love them.
Never had any trouble with them and use them constantly. No, I'm not plugging Amazon, as geographical restrictions wont allow me to buy from them. Cheers |

I still use my K1. Keep it on the nightstand. I saw no reason to upgrade to the K2 after spending $400 on the K1. My iPhone is my second kindle; I use that to read on the go around town. I love how the K1 and iPhone stay in sync. I take the K1 if I'm going on long plane flights or camping. I just bought a new battery for it after 2 years and the battery life is excellent. I'd prefer to wait to upgrade until they replace the stupid buttons with a touchscreen, but I'm traveling to Europe in September and the international wireless would be nice, so if the K3 does indeed come out in August I may get one.

I have had my K1 since January, 2008? Is that right? They came out in the fall, 2007? Anyway, I love my kindle and use it constantly. I saw no reason to upgrade to the K2, but I might upgrade in August if there is a new one that is faster. I have 14 pages of books, so I would like some folders. Faster response etc. can't be bad either.
Not sure what to do with my K1 in that case. I noticed that some people are selling them on Amazon for over $200. That seems crazy to me, even though I did pay almost $400 for mine. I may sell mine, but was thinking $50-$75, I don't know... |

I have a K1 and love it. A co-worker traded it to me for a phone in Jan 2010. I've read over a dozen books on it. My fiancée liked it so much she permanently borrowed it from me and reads about 2 books/week on it.
I plan on buying another reader in July, but have yet to decide on what to get. From my user experience, ergonomics/readability are the most important factors. Calibre has made most other options useless for me. |
