Werewolf Stories
I am working on a novel involving aspects of various werewolf legends and have been immersing myself in movies, tv shows, and books involving werewolves. I just finished reading David Wellington's Frostbite as well as K.L. Nappier's Full Wolf Moon. Both stories had some interesting takes on the idea and helped me get into the right mind set.
Any other suggestions? |

There's also Patricia Briggs' werewolf/shapeshifter series (Mercedes Thompson, and more romantic "spin-off" series Alpha & Omega). Carrie Vaughn's "Kitty" series.

Hey, jabberwock -
Try Robert McCammon's book "The Wolf's Hour." Not only is it a book about a werewolf ... it's a good read also! Good luck with your novel. Marilyn |

There are a few werewolf anthologies - edited by Peter Haining, Stephen Jones etc. I'd check those out.

Can I recommend my own "In the Werewolf's Den"? I think it creates a really intriguing dystopic future-world.

I am looking for stories more along the lines of a modern equivalent to the eastern European folk stories. A little more Romani and a little less romance.

S. Andrew Swan has a series coming that started with Wolfbreed. It's set in 14th century Germany during the Northern Crusades. Got it from my library in pbook, and stayed up way too late finishing it. Very interesting take on werewolves, I would say, although I must confess it's my first look at the genre.

Try Darker Than You Think by Fritz Leiber. It was written in the 40s or 50s (which shows, a bit). Good stuff.

The Complete Idiots Guide to Werewolves by Nathan Robert Brown. A pretty good book on werewolf mythology. The book is a serious look at the legends and their differences around the world.

Doesn't Lindskold have a "wolf" series? Is it werewolves?

Thanks for the suggestions folks, there were some good ones in there that really fall in line with what I am writing. After all of this searching I would have to say that this is a pretty underdeveloped subgenre. I really expected to find way more books out there with hairy lunar critters as the main focus.
