Cannot send pdf to PRS 600

Since I cannot use Sony Reader Library I've been messing around with Caliber. However when I try to send a file I get the error "Error communicating with the device".

Details:
(13, 'Permission denied')

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\device.py", line 56, in run
File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\device.py", line 243, in _upload_books
File "site-packages\calibre\devices\prs505\driver.py", line 145, in upload_books
File "site-packages\calibre\devices\usbms\cli.py", line 60, in put_file
IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied

I get this everytime on different files like pdb also. I'm using the version 6.0.53

I'm at work right now, but I can tell you that I've been able to browse the reader with Internet Explorer as I've installed the Reader library from a file that was in it.

I seem to be able to delete files from the reader using Caliber (even though the files are always broken seeing that it messes up at the transfer everytime) and when I send files, the progress sits at 0% with the "unavailable" status.

On the main Caliber screen, the device is detected with the status "Available" and I can browse what's inside.

Other than that, the reader itself seems to work properly. I could open up the demo books and play around with it so I don't think it's broken.

In the past with other users this has soemtimes meant that the media has become corrupted in some way. The answer has normally been to reformat it from the Sony end.

Thanks for the replies.

How would I go about doing this format? or do you mean that I have to send it to Sony?

It should be on the Sony Utilities menu. I have a 505 and I am assuming the 600 is the same in this respect.

Oh Sorry I didn't know you were talking about the built-in formating tool. I've formatted the reader a bunch of times and it doesn't change anything with Caliber.

It's "Calibre" and can you verify that you have error-free transfers to and from your device? In addition to format issues, USB errors and a bad cable can produce symptoms like this. Try copying a book back and forth a few times to make sure it isn't a hardware error or a cable problem.

Heya, I fixed the problem by plugging the reader in my laptop. Everything worked fine there. I'm guessing it's the usb port on the front of the case that's acting funny with it.

Thanks for the help!
