I ran across this fine forum a few days ago as my wife and I have started talking about readers as our birthdays approach. We're Americans living in Germany and would like both to improve our German as well as read some things from "home" along the way.

We're comparing the Sony PRS-300/505 and the Kindle right now and a bit bamboozled by the various features that seem somewhat unique to one or the other. But that raises questions for other posts!

Anyway, thanks for the great community and see y'all around....

If you want to improve your German check out the German Project Gutenberg site and the Digitale Bibliothek content. The program Digitale Bibliothek 5.0 (can convert Digitale Bibliothek texts to epub, pdf, html ....

Hi Rob. Welcome to MR. I have a Sony PRS-505 and I really like it. With the arrival of the newer Sony models it may be getting scarce though. I have the impression that newer touch sensitive eReaders render slightly less crisp eText - maybe because there is an additional membrane in the display. But what do I know? ~jim
