Pocketbook 360 Freezes

Hi all, I just got my pocketbook 360 last week and was very excited about it. It's very convenient, but I'm having trouble with it freezing on me fairly often. This has happened to me with both the books I was reading so far (a regular PDF and a DRM file from the public library) about ten times already. Basically what happens is that it will freeze when turning a page (hourglass icon at the bottom of the screen, green light stays on, and holding down the power button does nothing, forcing me to press the reset button under the battery cover (it was in this state for hours). A couple of times I've also had problems with it completely restarting unintentionally when I tried flipping a page. I have firmware version w101.15.1 on it, so it doesnt look like there's any later version - does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone had similar issue with it? Thanks |

The 15.1 firmware is not up to Pocketbook's normal standards. The earlier 14.2 is. It's rock solid stable. This should get it for you: http://www.pocketbookreader.com/uploads/W101.14.2.rar See here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=76847 Since you're new you'll likely wan to look here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65865 And here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80518 Last edited by fjtorres; 04-23-2010 at 09:07 AM. |

This really worries me. Most important thing for me is that book does not freeze. Ever. Is there any word about what is the problem with 15.1? How often does 14.2 freeze? |

My PB360 never froze under 14.2. I had some crazy freezing problems the first week of 15.1 that I planned on reverting to 14.2 but never got around to it and then noticed that my freezing problems stopped. I haven't had to do a hard reboot in weeks, though I still carry around a paperclip just in case |

I did crash FBReader to the bookshelf by feeding it over 500 truetype fonts, though. 300 seems to be okay. 15.1? Unclear. But the times I got it I ended up with file-system corruption that required cleaning up using the Windows explorer file system tool. Which the PB360 itself told me to do. Worth knowing, no?

When we know that this or that needs to be done *and* is being done we can wait much more patiently. By the way, can I be a betatester? Please, pretty please. I can even read, understand and speak Russian. (Writing is more complicated, because I never learned to use Cyrillic keyboard. I do manage short texts, with translate.google.com writting 90% of text for me ;-). For the rest of the text or short corrections of the automatically translated text I am clicking on Character map program )

 No more problems with freezing!

Thanks again! Just reporting in that a week after switching to 14.2, I haven't had any problems. I love the wrist page turn!

interestingly enough, I'm using all my PBs, 301 and 360 very actively, but they have never frozen on 15.1, while it happened couple of times on 14.2....)

I haven't tried out 15.1 because of all the reported problems, but my Pb360 has frozen four times in the five weeks I've had it using 14.2. There was no consistency in the freezes, so I'm not overly worried.

Could be because of the books. What formats were you reading?

15.1 is not entirely freeze-free. I use it because I'm too lazy to downgrade again :P However, 14.2 never freezed for me.

One time if froze after I used the search function and deleted the file I was searching for. It told me nothing could be found, said there was nothing in my bookshelf at all and then froze.
