Wifi dis/reconnects
I've noticed that my wifi occasionally disconnects and then reconnects a few seconds later. Is this happening with anyone else's iPad? The wifi strength is almost always showing full, and I'm not moving around when the wifi disconnects. In case it matters I have the 64gb 3g model.

Yes. It's a big problem with iPads and has been discussed a lot.
Seems to vary by router etc. as well. My girlfriend's iPad drops all the time in her condo, and in her office. Doesn't drop at all at my condo. Not sure if it's the brand of router, strength of signal, number of other networks with in range or what. |

Yeah I had heard about the wifi disconnects, I didn't hear about the instant reconnects though. I guess it's not a big deal since it only takes a few seconds to reconnect.

Yeah, most of the time it will just reconnect, opening safari seems to help force it to do so.
Sometimes it loses the network key and asks for it again though. |

For me it starts when i reach 50% battery but it doesnt seem to have any negative effect. I am using the 64GB Wifi unit.

If you have wi-fi problem, try to stick to pure G router and you would have no problems. Only N router gives problems because N standards are not yet fully standardized.

That could be part of it, but not all of it. My girlfriend's Dlink router is pretty old, pretty sure it isn't G, much less N. Pretty sure it's still a B.
Mine's a Linksys and is B/G and set to mixed mode. Drops on hers all the time, never has dropped when using it at my place. To be fair, that router of hers just sucks as I get drops on my laptop over there too. Part of it may be she's in a high rise condo so their are more networks in range than in my garden style place--through I still pick up 8-10 at my place on my laptop. The ipad only picks up 2-3, so part of it is the wireless reception on the iPad is a little weak. Last edited by dmaul1114; 05-03-2010 at 10:25 PM. |

Might want to check your screen brightness. Mine doesn't autoconnect if the brightness is at minimum.
