Accessories Vegan Kindle covers?

I need a cover for my Kindle 2. It's not an option because I'm a klutz. The problem I'm having is that all of the ones I like are leather-based and I'm a vegan.

Before anyone bothers explaining why they use leather ("It's supposed to simulate the books of yore...") or tries to asking something like "You don't have to eat the cover, what's the problem?" let me just cut you off there and tell you that I understand why they're made of leather and I'm not going to argue the semantics of vegan vs. non-vegan.

I just want something non-leather to protect my Kindle. Thus far I'm leaning towards the JAVOedge tweed cover because they specifically say it is non-leather but ultimately I'd like to find something closer to the OCTO vintage or the Oderon covers.

Most of the non-leather cases, however are more like the Padagonia and that's not what I'm looking for. Anyone have any suggestions for cases that might not be on Amazon? Something off-the-beaten-path?

Have you tried Etsy? Tons of sellers there make sleeves for Kindles.

Have you tried asking the Oberon Design people?
They might be able to accomodate you (and others of a similar inclination).

Sounds like a business opportunity to me...

Oberon's whole business model is based around leather and leather products so I dont think they are an option. They also dont do custom design work.

I second M-EDGE. I really like their "leisure" designs which are synthetic. As a Muslim, I try to avoid leather because of the chance that it could come from pigs, so I understand your difficulty. BTW, is your avatar from Vonnegut's Breakfast of Champions, by any chance?

Boxwave.com has a "Fiber Elite" cover that looks like the leather cases but is made from some form of fiber. They also have neoprene cases that zip up and have a pocket for cables, earphones, etc. This is what I have and love it cause I like my Kindle naked when I read.

I have always received great customer service with Boxwave.

I want you all to know, I respect the real issues raised by this thread.

However, being not ashamed of the way nature created me, I am and continue to be an unreconstructed omnivore - and every time I read the title of this thread I can't help but wonder... Just how do you all determine *which* vegans get sacrificed to become Kindle covers???

I'm a vegetarian and have purchased the Octovo Sleeve for both my K2 and DX and love them both - light, thin and protective. And no animals had to be sacrificed. Highly recommended.

Why oh why does every vegan/vegetarian thread on the internet just have to have somebody post "I'm an omnivore" or "I love meat". Do people feel so threatened by the mere fact that some people won't eat meat? Nobody here or in most places is trying to get these people to change their diets. The comment is completely unwelcome. Actually, what drove me to post was the completely incongruous image that flashed through my mind upon reading the thread title. Threatened? Hardly. I figure the more vegans and vegetarians avoid meat the more meat left for me to eat - IOW, thanks for eliminating yourselves from the competition for my meals!

No, I fully accept that some people prefer eating veggies, fruit and other carbs. (In truth, I must explain that it was the egregious consumption of non-meats/non-fats that got me to my over 630 pound maximum weight and that by switching to a high-protein/low-carb diet has - without a smidgen of exercise - enabled me to lose nearly 80 pounds of that and the weight loss continues. But that is probably more due to my insistence upon avoiding *ALL* corn and corn by-products.

Still, I cannot deny that for a large percentage of the population, a vegan/vegetarian diet works well.)
