Hard Cover in Canada??
Hi to you all,
I am not sure if this topic was discussed here, tried to search but with no avail, so if it was, I am sorry, but i short with time. I have a sony 505 but its hard cover broke (one of the pins) and I tried to find it online but couldn't find anything, as if they stopped making it. My son who lives in Canada is visiting me next month and I was wondering if any one can advise me if I can find it there, or if there are any sites that sell and ship to Toronto, York University. My son found a soft case for $170 can you believe that? And another on in ebay for $50, these prices are ridiculous. Please advise me .. I will forever appreciate it. yasmeen |

Read through this thread What kind of covers do you use? to get an idea of the covers available for the Sony. Somewhere on the first page I compiled a list of the most popular and links to their stores. If you are looking for a true hard case, many seem to like the Book Armor.

I was looking for covers in and near Toronto for my Sony 505 recently, and the only ones that I came across were the standard leather cover for the PRS-600, which I believe fits the 505. (Sold at the Sony store). Here is a link:
http://www.sonystyle.ca/commerce/ser...onPath=n100431 They have it in a few colours. There is also the case with the light: http://www.sonystyle.ca/commerce/ser...onPath=n100431 I like this case - they didn't have it at the store I went to, I wish now that I had ordered it online and had it sent to my home. Oh well, next time I visit I might do that: http://www.sonystyle.ca/commerce/ser...onPath=n100431 These cases are all meant for the Sony PRS-600 but should fit the 505. I ended up buying a $3 pencil case and using that as a case (I still have the original 505 case, I was looking for some added protection on top of that); It's not the snazziest solution, but it was the most wallet-friendly solution! If your son lives near York University, the closest Sony store to his home would probably be the one at Yorkdale shopping centre. Bestbuy also sells the covers official Sony covers, but I believe that their prices are the same as the Sony store prices. Hope this helps! |

I have one of the M-Edge genuine leather covers -- Amazon has a few old 505 ones in stock, but they say the 600 one fits the 505 as well. It's not a hard case in the sense that the Book Armor case is, but it's definitely more protective than the case that comes with the unit. It includes storage space for a couple of SD cards, too, and even a little slot meant for one of their book lights to clip into. I love the way it feels in my hand -- like a real book. I can't recommend it enough.
