Which netbook should I buy
I have read through a number of different threads here about the different netbooks and tablets and I am a bit confused. I have a sony pr505 which I am happy with but would like to be able to surf the net and watch movies on it as well as a one size fits all. It seems as if a netbook will be the answer. I need the folllowing things - read books, watch movies, surf the net, long battery life, fairly good memory as I have found that some of the small notebooks keep popping up messages cos all the space is used by the applictions. I had looked at the IPAD but it does not have a usb port and this would be important for transferring my books. I see a new german one is coming out but done know when. Please advise on options with comparisons and price!
Thanks ![]() |

There are ways to transfer your eBooks to the iPad without it needing a USB connection.
frankly it pretty much meets the needs you list. BOb |

If you're looking for something on the size of the iPad (which is a very valid option itself) I'd advise you to take a look at the eeePC 1000h (10 inches, against 9,7 from the iPad).
It has 1 gb RAM and 80 GB of hard disk space, an SD slot and three USB ports. It's said to last 7 hours, and it seems that that information is correct, from what I've read in other forums. The German device, the WePad, seems very neat too, but given the bad experience of the txtr, which has scared away many people from devices coming from start-ups, and the very poor marketing choice of the name, I'm afraid it won't enjoy the success its specs deserve. |

Hi Slainte: I carefully weighed up all the many netbook options and took expert advice. It came down to a tie betweeen the Samsung and the Acer 10" machines -- so I bought both: one for me and one for my mother-in-law. They are both excellent. I have more experience with the Samsung, which I kept for myself (in fact, I'm using it right now on my terrace) and quite honestly can't fault it after nine months of heavy use. And my mother-in-law takes hers everywhere she goes and is likewise as pleased as punch. Cheers. Neil
