Let me first say that I'm a Gleek and proud of it.

Now that we have that established, I'm originally from NJ, but I've lived in Florida so long, I'm practically a native. I still go to NJ for a week in the summer to visit family and the beaches.

My can't miss TV shows are GLEE, Bones, GLEE, Castle, GLEE, sytycd and Deadliest Catch.

I'm a history buff, in particular medieval English history, although I love ancient Egypt, too.

I'll check through the other threads now. Maybe I can find a fellow Gleek or two.

Hi MargretLake and welcome to Lake. Although I have to admit to total ignorance re Glee (don't know what it is) I am glad you found your way to us.

Ancient Egypt is fascinating and I was lucky enough to spend 6 weeks in Egypt visiting a lot of the temples. It certainly has a high place in my 'best holidays ever' memory and triggered my interest in history.

Glee is my favorite TV show about a Glee Club (show choir). Very weird plots. Same producers as Nip/Tuck. Great, great singing. Next weeks ep is all Madonna songs.

Lucky, lucky you. Always wanted to go. Did you get to Dier El Bahri? Hatshepsut's temple is so different from all the others. I think it was about a year ago that they finally identified her mummy.

Not sure if it would be my cup of tea - but then again, I don't watch all that much TV. Although the box is always on to provide background noise as somehow the radio annoys me

Yes, we did walk the Hatsheput's temple - among others. Most amazing were the sizes of it all. And yes, the cartouches were all removed in the temple.

Most amazing was also Abu Simple - what an engineering project to move the whole temple.

But all in all I couldn't say what my favourite spot was. The whole experience was awesome - but then again 14 yr old girls are easy to impress. It's been a long time ago that I was there, so I looked at it differently then I would now. But what stuck in my mind was the patience of my parents - we had a great book which we used to identify the cartouches & hieroglyphs. Great way to get youngsters interested.
