Bannermkr here

Hello group. I am an ereader newbie and am awaiting my first ereader a Sony PRS-600. I have been a lover of books since I was in kindergarten. In elementary school and beyond when they would have the summer read program none of the teachers would sponsor me beause during the summer months I had a tendancy to read 20 books per week. Now because I work (a necessity of adulthood), I read about 10 books per week. I am an avid reader, and figure that an ereader would be the best bet instead of having to lug a lot of books around. I am awaiting my ereader which should arrive by this Friday. I am now counting the days.

So if any of the more seasoned people have any suggestions on where to get books so that I don't break the bank here, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hello again, bannermkr

It's so hard to wait for a new "toy".

You can get started so you will be ready when your 600 arrives.

First thing to remember is that ADE and the Sony Reader Library have to have the exact same log in and password as they work together.

Check with our other Canadian members for specific tips for purchasing books (geographic restrictions and all that).

You can explore using Calibre to manage your library of DRM free books and Kovid, the creator, frequents the forums here. We even have a dedicated Calibre forum.

MR has free ebooks that have been beautifully handcrafted by some very dedicated MR members. ePub format and Sony BBeB / lrf format

Some free ebook sites to check out.. feedbooks.com and manybooks.net and Project Gutenburg

Free and for purchase ebook sites .. smashwords.com and baen.com Plus Baen has a free library

Here are a couple of book search engines for finding and comparing book prices.. AddAll and Inkmesh.

Have fun in the forums and ask if you have any questions.

PS Check my signature and click on the links to find more information.
