Unhappy Footnotes recognition on 5" device?
Hello everybody! I am new here, and I need help!
I have started with Astak 6" device initially, and was really impressed by it's handling of FB2 files. The tags (name of the author, title of the book) were read and displayed flawlessly, footnotes were properly placed at the bottom of the page...
Now I've got this new wonderfull and shiny Pocket PRO, expecting the same - and ooops...
No tags - all I am seeing is filenames. And no footnotes. Even the option to display footnotes is gone from the menu!
Tags - OK, they were pretty to look at but not essential, so no problem. But FOOTNOTES! I liked those footnotes! And I need footnotes...
I updated my firmware to the latest (December version), but nothing changed.
Does anybody know why this option is no longer available? Or am I simply doing something wrong?
Please help! I am dying to read this novel set in ancient China...

You don't get footnotes, you get endnotes.

So, no more footnotes for me?! Really?.. Why?..
OK, then how do I get to those endnotes when I'm reading?

There should be links to the endnotes in the text of the book.

No, they don't look like links, they are just numbers...
I guess I'm confused... How do you navigate to them, sorry, I just don't get it...

On my 505, the first link on a screen is highlighted and if there are more, I can use the arrows to move to the next. Then I just press the circular button to then navigate to the link for the endnote. If it's not working on your Pocket Pro, then it could be an issue with your eBook. What format is this eBook in? If it is ePub, try it in ADE on your computer and see what happens.

Well, nothing is highlighted at all. It's FB2 file, not ePub, unfortunately.

What format are you reading in (like for the novel on ancient China)?

Maybe we can help. You should see, we believe the same footnotes as on the 6 inch. In any case, call 1-866-368-8788 (tollfree in USA, Canada, and Mexico). Let us try to ask a few questions and try to get you back to reading!

There will soon be a version with a much improved CoolReader (the reader software used for FB2 ebooks). See Revised March/April Firmware Upgrade coming. I don't know if it will do footnotes though.

Thanks for responding! I am trying to read FB2 file.
I am going to call support right away, hopefully they will teach me how to fix this!

Oh, I see, thanks!.. It is going to be a cool update, looking forward to it!
But the thing is - my 6" Astak handled footnotes in FB2 just fine even without CoolReader... And this new 5" Pocket PRO can't for some reason...

It was also using CoolReader, just a different version. This is why the new firmware may be all you need. At a minimum, it is the new version that Jinke needs to update (if necessary) to handle footnotes.

You are right, firmware update will probably fix it. I think I can try the existing version of "March update" for now and see if this resolves the situation. Even though it has some issues, as I understand... If it fixes my footnote problem - great! If not - well... I'll bug support guys!
