From Spring Design Alex to Entourage Edge

Hi,

This is my first post in this forum. I'm looking to buy my first ebook reader.
I was considering Alex but with the current price of $400 I think it's kind of overpriced. For additional $100, Edge offers much more then Alex.
I know Edge is heavier a bulkier then Alex but it has much larger screen which is important for me since I'm using reading eyeglasses.
What is you opinion about this, am I right and go ahead and order Edge ?

Thanks,
Val

Before negating the weight issue I would suggest you find something that weighs around 3 pounds and see how heavy that really feels. I did.

A lot of people who got the edge were surprised at how heavy it feels even though they knew about it's weight.

Give us more details in what you are looking for in a reader so people here can suggest the ones that would fit your needs.

How heavy is it compared to the Wrox SQL Server book? Or say a World Book Encyclopedia volume? Because those are they types of ebooks I would want to use my eDGe (don't have one yet I'm cheap and waiting to see the iPad and HP Slate) for.

I got one of my wife's books - size and weight look similar to Edge's, not bad at all

In your case the edge would probably be great. But I would not recommend it as a casual reader (i.e. fiction books). This is why we need to know what the OP's main requirements are.

Hi frozennorth,

From the Onyx Boox forum I found that you may buy Boox 60. It looks you did a lot of research.
BTW, 2 weeks ago I ordered BeBook Neo but canceled the order since they ship from Netherlands and if I have to return it, it will cost me a lot. After that I almost decided to go with Alex, but it's too overpriced. Edge is nice but I'm not sure that I want to spend $500 + $100+ for shipping and taxes.
So if you don't mind could you share some of your finds about Boox 60 and maybe I'll go with it too.

Thanks a lot,
