PRS-505 Driver questions???

Hello, I am new to this forum so I apologize if this post is in the wrong place. I received my PRS-505 today, fired it up and nothing in my e-books device manager. I noticed the drivers are not recognized in my Windows XP Device Manager. I also noticed that on the back it makes mention that the PRS-505 complies with CANADIAN IECS-303. Problem is I'm not in Canada I'm in the US. Could this be a problem. Thanks gang. Also read that I have to direct Driver to WINDOWS MASS STORAGE DRIVE? How do I do that?

IF your using Windows XP you don't really need any drivers. If a USB drive works in your PC, the 505 should work. When you plug it in do you see it as a drive on your system?

It is possible to turn auto-mount off.... but most people don't do that.

Is it fully charged and turned on when you plug it in? If it isn't charged you won't see it as a device. Leave it plugged into a powered USB socket to charge. Then, unpulg it and turn the device on. While it is on, plug it to the USB cable again... after a few seconds XP should see it, and mount it.

Try another USB cable and/or port on the PC. Does the Reader screen change into "USB connected" one? Does the red charging light light up?

I would leave it connected to a usb port directly connected to your computer (power) and let it charge for an hour or so. If not, hit the reset button on the back for a few seconds and power it on and off again.

I received my sony reader last week. I downloaded the adobe reader. That was successful. but, when I tried to download the ebook library I almost succeeded until the message appeared that told me that my system has not been modified.
What does that mean and how can fix this so called problem
Thanks
