Cheapest Tablet PC?

Whats the cheapest Tablet PC you can get?

You'd think they'd start making some with some lower specs and sell them under $1000. I cant find any under $1200.

I think he's referring to this UMPC tablet...

It's one that I'm also drooling over. I may have the patience to wait for better screen resolution, battery life and price, as well as maybe a few more of the new product category kinks to get worked out. But even as-is, it's really hard to not go out and just buy one! If you like it, don't forget to check out the organizer and keyboard accessories. One interesting difference from a "typical" tablet is that you can use your finger or a regular sylus instead of a special powered pen.

I used to carry around a Franklin planner. This would probably be a similar sort of portability, but with fantastic computing power, and maybe a great ebook reader also.

i've given up on geting a eink ebook or the nokia770, i've decided i want something that requires no conversion of my books, because i know they wont handle the images and size of them

I tend to agree with you there about having to convert books to read. Hence I only get devices that read html, which is the native format of the majority of "books" I read currently.

Incidentally, nokia770 and some of the eink ebook do support HTML.

I just got one for about $1200. And I have to say it was worth it. I can read everything with no conversion needed, plus all other windows apps and stuff work.

The LCD monitor really isnt all that hard to read with, I usually like to turn down the contrast to 45% or so and I can read in the dark if I want also

If Apple made tablets, I probably would of gotten one by them, but XP Tablet Edition is pretty good.

The year for good eInk ebooks is still probably 5-10yrs away, so I think this was a good choice.
