About the last Irex announcement and SD2CF adaptors

Few days ago I read about Irex enabling us to do updates from CF. Well, it's a step but it doesn't mean the iLiad will be bootable from CF to restore the internal filesystem of bricked units or whatever, does it? If it does it means moreover you'll need a CF, not a MMC to alternatively boot from, doesn't it? In this case a 4GB SD card with a CF card adaptor will do the work? I prefer to buy a SD card and the adaptor instead of the CF card itself, it's much more versatile for my needs.
Do you think I'll have problems with this config? Do you think it's the beginning of the alternative boot way that we have been talking about for weeks? Thanks a lot!

Well...

I really hope that iRex includes pre-boot flashing (for bricked iliads) when they create a possibility to do updates using CF.
The reason for using CF might be that it's easier to implement under certain situations.
A SD-CF-adapter should do the job nicely. If not, a 256/512MB CF should be big enough to do the job and costs nearly nothing.
