Does your screen look like this?
Hi all,
I recently bought a second hand PRS-505 and I'm loving it! I have, though, noticed the screen seems to have many tiny dots (black on white and white on black), I know this is the nature of the eInk display but having not seen a 505 before I'm wondering if it should be so obvious. The picture below shows the dots on my screen. ![]() Are your screens similar? I must admit it looks worse in this picture, they're not so noticable when reading luckily! The dots remain even when the reader is off. I must add that these don't bother me, I'm just curious! I love the 505! ![]() |

Certainly doesn't show on my 505, Gatecra5her. Very odd. Neil

I noticed little speckles on my screen too but no where nearly as bad as yours. I think those are dead pixels and probably the reason why the original owner wanted to sell it.

I can't see anything like this on my screen. Is it the e-ink or the surface of the screen, can you tell? Really strange.
Now that I look at your picture more carefully, the black of the letters and the bottom bar is not solid. It's certainly solid on mine. I'm afraid you have rotten luck with your readers' screens - I hope I'm wrong though... |

It's really not as bad as these pictures show, but what made me realise it was the fact that the black is not solid.
If you can excuse the flash in the picture below, it shows the reader how it is when I actually use it: ![]() |

I haven't had this issue with my 505. My 600 though did exactly show such speckles when I was reading outside last weekend. Usually I read at home or at the office at around 75F. Outside last weekend we had only around 51F in the sun. I thought that the little eink dots reacted a little dull. I also had more shadowing from previous pages when turning the pages. This all stopped once the reader was at regular room temperature again.
