Does that particular sale come with the 2gb sd card that the regular price includes?

I'd stay far away from the eSlick... The following is from the latest firmware..

Enlarged page margins to improve the viewing of EPub and eReader (PDB) files as well as the PDF reflow mode.
Larger margins? What the heck are they thinking? To me, they have it all wrong.

Do you have an eSlick? The wider margins an actual improvement. Previously it pretty much has no margin at all, the words were practically right up to the plastic case. A very small amount of white space is good.

I like my eSlick. My one complaint is that it is not a touch screen. I'm coming from a Palm background and am having a little trouble adjusting to that, even though I used the five way controller on my palm a lot. It is also slower than my palm, but I think most ereaders are. Overall I like it.

How does it handle PDF's (e.g. computer manuals, programming books)?

I've searched this forum before but did not find a thorough review of the eSlick.

Margins are subjective. I like no margins with a reader. But, ePub let's the margins be defined. So having the reader add in margins even if you want none is bad. It takes away the ability to define margins how the user wants.

What do you mean, "ePub let's the margins be defined"? Are you sure you are not referring to a feature of the Sony reader ePub software? The eSlick ePub software does not allow you to select the margin width that you prefer. Also you need to consider that the software on the eSlick is for both ePub and PDB.

I am sure that ePub, unlike PDF, does allow the reader software to set the width, if you have that ability within the reading software. Unfortunately eSlick does not. However the current width is very small, but not small enough that the letters are almost hidden under the plastic case. They're not huge by any stretch of the imagination.

For the specs and the current promotional price, is the eslick a good buy?

Like I was explaining, the software is very low on features, compared to other machines like the Kindle or probably Sony (although I haven't really seen that one in use). There's no dictionary word lookup, no adjusting margins. There is font adjusting and reflow. They seem very open to taking suggestions for upgrades. I got mine for Christmas and just had the first software upgrade.

Overall I like it because it allows me to use the formats I have without living under the evil empire of Amazon or Barnes & Noble with the heavy controls they have over their ereader machines. If I had it to do over again I might get the Sony 600 touch screen, because I miss that, coming from a palm background. But I can't read my hundreds of PDB files on Sony, so maybe I would stick with the eSlick after-all.

It definitely does the job. One downside is that you can't use DRMed ePubs on it. But I found out very easily how to unlock them and they work fine on the eSlick.
