SD card--needed?
Hi, getting geared up to purchase a Jetbook Lite! I don't know much about SD cards. Is there a certain type needed? Will something like a Sandisk SDHC 4GB do well? What is a good price for one?
I also need a card reader, right? From what I read, its easier to use the JBL with a card? I will be using mine for short fiction. I have a ton of books in mobi. I won't have any problem reading them on the JBL, right? Thanks for your help. Anne |

The JBL seems to like most any SD card I've come across. The Sandisk 4GB card
should be just fine. You will probably find that you won't need 4GB right away, if ever. 2GB is plenty, IMO; and would be cheaper. They need not be very fast either. I have some class 6 and better SD cards for HD Video, but for eBooks any speed card will do. I lucked out and got 5ea Lexar Professional 1GB SD cards 133x (Class 10) for ~$5 a piece. While I got them for their speed and the great price, the 1GB size has proved very useful. 1GB can hold quite a large library of eBooks. Luck; Ken |

Handier, faster transfers to an SD card with a USB 2.0 adapter.
Jetbook's usb is the older slower USB 1.1. Sandisk is one of the older better names in my opinion. 4 GB should do you just fine, its what I'm using. Shouldn't have any problems reading those off the SD card no. As for the card reader, some SDHC cards come with an adapter. Or you can buy one seperate that basicly turns the SD card into a thumb drive. Has a slot on one end for the SD card, USB on the other end plugs into the computer. I paid 3$ for mine, but it took a while to get here. |

Thanks so much. I will get the card. I still can't decide if I should get the Lite or the other Jetbook. I need to find out how much fictionwise charges to ship also, if its really high, I'll just go with newegg.

Thanks Ken.....same add as fictionwise. I'll check the ereader site out. I hope its not like ebookwise, where you don't actually download the book to your computer at all. I didn't like that.

Fictionwise and eReader.com are the same company and both are being digested by
Barnes&Noble. Who knows how it will all end, once they get past the small intestines. Luck; Ken |

Duracell Cards
It seems that Duracell battery maker has started to sell memory cards are your local grocery stores.
They are reasonable in price and you will find them hanging in the battery display. 2 gig cards sell for less then $10.00 and they work great in the JB |

I've got a card or two and a reader or two on the way. I've set up calibre and loaded all my unread ebooks into it. I've downloaded the firmware. I guess all that's left to do is order my Jetbook Lite! I will do that, maybe today. I am so psyched!

I ordered! From newegg. Wanted to order from fictionwise but husband didn't think that was as good as I did.

I've always had very good luck with newegg. Hope it arrives soon, I think you'll enjoy it. I know I sure love my Jetbook. Can't imagine ever going back to paper.

I am interested in finding out if I will actually like it better than paper. (Skeptical, at the moment). I am so pleased that this unit is available, and I didn't have to spend the extra to get a Kindle. $129 is so much more affordable.

Oh, to update my remark above, I accidentally found out how to download the files I had bought from ebookwise to my computer. I just logged in to fictionwise using my user name/pw for the ebookwise site, and there they were! Got all but the DRM'd book. (Didn't care about that one anyway). I'm glad. Now I'll be able to put them on my new JBL if I want to.

NO you Dont
Nope,
You can use your jetbook right away. You can plug the JB into your computer with the supplied USB cable and load one of your own books to internal memory. There is spare room in the internal memory unless you are trying to load a large book. But you can delete any of the internal books you do not want and make more room. The first thing I did when I received it was to remove everything I knew I did not want to read. I then installed the books that I always wanted to have no matter what SD cards I had plugged into the JB. I put some reference books and a couple of other manuals I always have with me. (Egineers Handbook, etc). Happy ebooking with your new Jetbook |
