Post Sony question

Hi everyone, I am new here, and very new in the e-reader world. I ordered the Sony PRS-900, but now I have few questions and worries.

1. Will my Sony be able to download the previously purchased books which I am storing in the Adobe Digital Edition?

2. Will I be able to transfer books and pdf files from the Sony's Reader Library even if the books and the files have been bought from other websites?

3. Does anyone have experience with linking Sony PRS-900 to the MacBook OS X Snow Leopard?

Thanks a lot!

1) Yes
2) Yes
3) No Clue

Welcome to the forum Zorana. Be sure and check out all the free books here at mobileread https://www.mobileread.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=126 that are ready to go for your Sony. You can also look a few forums down from that one and get many ePub books that will also work..... And here is a link to free ebooks from the Sony store http://ebooks.addall.com/sonyfree.html . Be sure to check back on the Sony link as the book content changes. Also Kobo is a great sight for buying books http://www.kobobooks.com/ and is often cheaper than the Sony site.

Instead of the Sony software, you might want to check out Calibre http://calibre-ebook.com/ , it's free (donationware) and excellent.

Again, congrats and have fun!

The PRS-900 should connect to Snow Leopard. Peruse the forums to see if there are others who are using the 900 and specific versions of OS X

Welcome aboard! You'll find lots of helpful people here. On your #2 concern, you should be able to transfer those files without problem except if they have digital rights protection that the 900 doesn't support.

You'll read alot about Calibre, and it is a nice program, but you will need the Sony Library software to access the Sony store. I use both and find Calibre great for editing titles and tags (catagories in Library software).

I'm using a MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard and connecting my 900 to it is no problem. I use the Sony Ready Library to purchase books this way.

Yes, it works fine with Snow Leopard. The Sony software is a pile of arse, however, so I use Calibre. No problems with books bought from other websites.
