Sometimes I'm able to post a MobileRead URL with the searchid number in it and members can click on it to see my search results and sometimes they can't. I'll post an example below, I'm not sure if it will work or for how long.
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sea...archid=3066792 Are the searchid's not a unique identifier, or are they recycled or do they expire after a certain time limit? I've had replies that they don't work for some, yet when I click on them they are still working. Are they kept in my cache or something? ![]() This function is helpful in pointing members to some solutions (rather than just saying go search for -- I'd like to give them a head start), or say pointing to all the books with the same title in the uploads section created by... Is there any other method of embedding search criteria in the URL? Thanks....WDE *Edit* I moved from my netbook to my PC and this URL search no longer works. I know that I can use the search tag to search in titles or posts, but it would be nice to have some more criteria, i.e. forum, member... Quote:

WDE, I've wondered about the same thing (your link didn't work for me).
I usually check my links before final posting, and I never noticed it didn't work as it would link to the search for me. It was only after someone let me know, and once when I came across one of my posts that I noticed this. I've started to just find the single posts and put multiple links in my post. It takes some time to do, but at least it seems to work. It sure would be nice to have the link with the search specific information in the post, and not have to tell the member to, "do a search for...", especially, if it is a new member. |

Searchids are temporary pointers to cached search queries. That means, the first time you perform a search, the results are being temporarily cached (in case you apply the same search pattern again within a short time duration). If you like to include a link to a post with a keyword search, you can try using the [ search] keyword [ /search] (without the spaces) tags.
For example: apple |
