Cross-belief poll

For the purposes of this poll, Global Warming refers to a phenomenon that is at least in part man-made.

I don’t care about discussing these contentious issues, but out of curiosity, I am interested to see if there is any correlation between people’s beliefs.

Please choose the option that most closely reflects your own position.

I realize that this is a very non-scientific poll, but I thought the results might still be interesting.

Thank you.

Global warming.

Heh, I refuse to believe it on the grounds that Al Gore is its spokesperson.

Heck, I'd go as far as to believe that there was a Santa Claus if Al Gore told me that there wasn't.

You know these questions are a just red flag flying in the face of a lot of people.

There is nothing "thoughtful" about any of these questions.

'Vaccinations are a good idea' and 'Vaccinations can cause autism' aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. It's possible to agree with both if you think the benefits outweigh the risks.

I loke the poll! BTW I went with option 1.

Here's another one you should add "Breathing air kills. Eventually."
This is also a cost-benefit equation.

Hi,
Interesting that who is a spokesperson could cause or not cause (anthropogenic) global warming .

Al Gore invented the internet, so I'm sure that being the cause of global warming too is well within his capabilities .

Even those who were milking us for Global Warming stopped calling it this name and call it Climat Change now, when Nature/planet Earth prooved that all their theories is BS. They still want our money and must milk us playing on the idea that generally people are stupid and believe everything people with a "scientist" tag say, so they call it Climat Change.

I can't claim any direct personal experience for evolution, but I am convinced by the scientific evidence. I have though observed the way spring occurs a little earlier now compared to say 40 years ago, not to mention all the reports re. melting ice caps. So yes, global warming / climate change is probably happening, imo. With respect to vaccination, the autism argument appears extremely weak, with the original proponent being severely criticised by his profession. Having experienced whooping cough, chicken pox, measles and mumps I am utterly and wholeheartedly in favour of vaccination.

Most interesting poll!

That's true. Like I said, this isn't a scientific poll, but what I'm after is the position that comes closest. There's not room enough to clarify all the questions in the way I'd like, and if I did, I doubt seriously that many people would like to wade through all the qualifiers.

Having said that, if I ever make a similar poll in the future, perhaps a better wording of that question would be, "Vaccinations: worth the risks?" and "Vaccinations: too dangerous." This would have been better wording, especially in light of the fact that--to the best of my knowledge--no one is claiming that vaccinations are completely risk-free, any more than similar claims would be made for any other medical procedure or treatment.

Thanks for pointing that out.

When scientists discuss the issue, they generally speak of Climate Change rather than Global Warming because Global Warming is a limited phrase that doesn't encompass everything affecting the climate. I chose to ask about people's beliefs concerning Global Warming because it refers specifically to an issue whose basics are fairly clear in the public eye. I'm not interested in this thread is why people believe what they do, simply what they believe. At least for the purposes of this thread, I'm trying not to make any judgments, just trying to see if there are any correlations between certain sets of beliefs.

I do believe in evolution, I also believe that we can't stop global warming, but we are accelerating it and I don't think anything about vaccinations except that you yourself (or your guardian) should make the choice and not some government.
