DISMEMBER—A Suspense/Horror Novel

In the mood for something suspenseful?

The summer he turned seven, Dave Abbott survived a gruesome mountainside car accident that left the rest of his family savaged and dead.

Now, after living twenty-three years with the twisted backwoodsman who pulled him from the wreckage, Dave is carrying out a plan to replace each of his lost loved ones with members of nearby, unsuspecting families. He has prepared, he’s stalked, and now his chance has come to get his family safely out of the mountains once and for all.

Whether they like it or not.

What they're saying:

Dismember’s a fast-paced grindhouse-movie of a book with plenty of unexpected twists and turns and a fresh new crazy for a villain. The late Richard Laymon would have been grinning ear to ear.”
—Jack Ketchum, multiple Bram Stoker Award-winning author of The Girl Next Door and Off Season

“With Dismember, Daniel Pyle joins the select group of authors who can provide real chills and genuine surprises. Taut, weird, and intriguing.”
—Jonathan Maberry, multiple Bram Stoker Award-winning author of The Dragon Factory and The Wolfman

“The tourniquet-tight plot and constant suspense keeps the pages flying. A solid, suspenseful thriller that enables readers to envision the movie it could become.”
Publishers Weekly

The book is DRM-free everywhere. I hope you'll check it out and come back to let me know what you think.

Thanks for reading!

Dan

I'm a ways into this book, and I'm tearing through it. It was everything I expected....well played Mr. Pyle...well played.

Although I think there is a problem with the B&N version, usually it's a couple page clicks to change an ePub page, but it's 2 pages per click with this, and I'm sure your book isn't over 500 pages, plus it was very sluggish to open and it would open and then shut for a while. Once I got into it though, it seemed fine.

I think it had something to do with downloading it through My Library or whatever straight to the nook. I usually do it through Calibre to the nook.

I have it on my Droid X downloaded through Calibre and have no problems either.

Great Book!!! I was wishing for more backstory on Davey, but all in all, I blew through it, and:

Spoiler:
I do still hope the rest of them get out okay, this was one book I was rooting for a happy ending and it actually didn't happen!!

I'm glad you liked it. Trying to balance the backstory with the present day story was tricky. Some readers tell me there are too many flashbacks, others wish there had been more. In the end, I hope I landed somewhere near the middle ground.

Thanks for letting me know about that. I tested it on B&N's online simulator and the Nook app for iPad, but didn't have an actual Nook. I'll have to see if I can reproduce it.

I think you did find a good balance, it worked well.

If you have a different version than you sent to B&N I would be happy to test it out on my nook to see if there was a definitive problem on there end.
