Can the Kindle 2 display the time?

My wife gave me a Kindle 2 for xmas and despite my every effort I am REALY enjoying it. My simple question is… does this thing have a clock? I’ve seen quite a few references to the ‘ALT-T’ trick but it doesn’t work (from any screen). I’ve also seen the ‘@time’ mentioned and it doesn’t work either.

Should I just give up? Or am I doing something wrong?

If you press the menu key the time appears in the top of the screen...

But if you're outside Whispernet range, you have no way of initially setting the time (as far as I can see).

So i should turn the radio on then? Maybe that’s my problem, i always have wireless turned off.

Once in a while, every couple of weeks or so should do. The Kindle just needs to sync with the servers to keep time.

Well.. i went home from and hit the 'Menu' button and sure enough, the time showed up

Did i miss that in the manual/reference?
