oh noes Daffy! what floor do you live on?

I just got off the phone with my Aunt, she and her brother are vacationing in Newport Beach right now. all of their activities have been moved inside. she said at least the Queen Mary was dry and warm!

Well I'm close to the Queen Mary and may get even closer if this rain keeps up.

I'm 4 floors up from the ground, so except for my balcony, I'm dry. My car is on a higher part of the garage, so it's still dry. Luckily, I did a bunch of shopping this morning before the rain hit and I don't have to work until Saturday, so I'm just going to go back to the fireplace and finish my book.

Gesh, sis, I thought I had it bad at my place. I just spent 100 dollars for hoses, clamps, etc to hook up to my sump pump..plus a mini hand pump, and I was soaked, tired, and grumpy by the time I was finished pumping water. I've been in and out and changed clothes three times. At least the water level is lower and the rain has stopped. Oh, yeah, I just discovered I may have a leak in the roof flashing because the drywall (where the light switches are- inside next to the garage door) is soaked.

I thought about taking pictures, but I don't think I really want to remember my day any time soon. I just kept telling myself that it wasn't as bad as it was a few years ago. Neighbor kids and their dads were boating down the streets then

Awww sis. The long lost twins on opposite sides of the country are both suffering the same fate. We really must be related.

Can I borrow a sump pump (not that I'd have any idea how to use one, I've never even seen one)?

crikey !! i hope both of you manage to keep your feet dry (from now on) ! some parts of the country are subject to flooding here and you see photos of people's houses with water lines halfway up the wall, geesh. a few years ago the seine was really high (you couldn't walk on the quais at all, they were completely underwater) and the city sent out pamphlets with information on what to do in case of a flood, with a map of the most at-risk neighborhoods. i'm pretty far from the river and also on slightly higher ground (plus i live on the 4th floor, that's the 5th floor to you USA-icans) so i wasn't really in any danger but the people at the louvre were worried.

i hope the water goes back down soon ! keep us posted !!

Even though I live less than a mile from the ocean (and even closer to the Los Angeles River), our problem was that the rain was coming down faster than the drains could handle and the water just backed up. It's been raining since Monday so the ground is saturated and can't hold any more water.

I just heard the sun will be back on Sunday (kind of appropriate don't ya think

).

Unfortunately is seems its sun brining powers only work in Paris.

I actually like the rain but it's too much at one time.

One cool thing. Our mail delivery person who is a petite lady was still able to make the mail delivery yesterday.

We keep hearing about an ongoing drought over there, so I'm wondering if this might help in the long run.
