PRS-300 did it break <24 hours?

Hello,

Yesterday I received my brand new PRS-300, but today before it was 24 hours old it suddenly froze.

The device does not respond to anything, I tried the following:

Pushed reset but (1 sec and 2 sec and 5 sec and 10 sec)
Tried connecting to the computer and resetting.
It should be fully charged.

Any other ideas?

After using a paper clip to press the Reset button, slide and hold the Power button for a few seconds. You might need to repeat the last step a few times. The reset of the PRS-300 is rather cluncky, but it usually works.

Just to check, you've not charging it via the USB port when connected to a wall socket charger, are you? If using the USB port, then it needs to be connected to a computer (that's not on standby), else you need to charge via the round barrel connector.

Charge it for several hours using the round power port (not usb!). Any Sony PSP charger or power cable will work.

What happens if you use the usb to charge it from the wall, like with an adapter? I thought I read somewhere on here that you could do that?

The reader requires whatever is on the other side of the usb plug to identify itself as a computer before it'll charge. Really annoying feature that

So, regardless, unless I have that wall charger, I can't recharge it in the wall? That sucks.

Have to have the wall charger to charge it via the wall

Make sure that before unplugging the reader from the computer you make sure to disconnected the device via the bottom right usb connector pop up! Otherwise, it will freeze and you will have to hit the reset button and cram the power button over and over

Any PSP-compatible wall-charger that charges via the round barrel connector will do fine.

My 300 froze right after I had loaded a book into it and started reading it. I found that if I plugged in the USB and waited about 6-7 minutes the computer would recognize it, I then took out the book just put in and everything was fine. I believe the book file was corrupt in some way, and the reader couldn't handle it... Good Luck
