Kindle 2 is on the way...

I am new to the Kindle, so new that I don't have it yet.

I took advantage of the K2 refurb offer from Amazon, I should receive it tomorrow.

I have one question so far:

What is the best way to get a pdf onto the K2 without sending the pdf out to be converted?

I often have the need to read documents in pdf format, these documents are proprietary and I am uncomfortable sending these type of documents to a third party.

Thanks for the help, I will continue to search the forums for the answer.

By the way, I really do appreciate this community.

The Kindle is recognized as a usb mass storage device when connected to a computer. so you can just drag and drop your pdf into the "documents" folder and the Kindle for reading.

I must warn you that the Kindle has very basic pdf support. You will be able to search the but you won't be able to change the font size, annotate, highlight or zoom the documents.

Welcome, I am a new Kindle owner as well. Since I was unable to change the font size or zoom in on a pdf if I used the drag and drop method I had to find another solution. I download the free software Calibre and use that to convert to mobipocket formet where I can change the text size so i can actually see the PDF.

Calibre is free and can be found at http://calibre-ebook.com/ and is very, very easy to use.

Thanks for the tip. I'm just starting to learn to use Calibre. I just converted a textbook (pdf) to mobipocket format and now I can use it easily.

Now I'm learning how to get a few blogs on my K2.

So far so good, my reading is picking up. I'm taking time out for myself to relax during this holiday season and the Kindle fits the bill perfectly.

Additionally, I've taken my Kindle along on errands (waiting in lines, doctors offices, etc.) and I get a lot of questions. Almost everyone has heard of the Kindle but not had a chance to see or hold one for themselves.

I'm a gadget guy and this generates a lot of interest.
