If they're pdf's, the Sony PRS-600 might be more suitable for you, thought I'm not very familiar with the Kindle2. PDF is not a very good eBook format, though, and that's something you might want to consider in you future eBook purchases.

I would suggest that you buy your books in formats other than PDF - it's really not a terribly good format for small-screen devices.
Both the Sony and the Kindle are good devices (I have both). Overall I prefer the Sony, in terms of its overall functionality. |

If you have Adobe secure ebooks (PDFs, often now called Adobe Digital Editions ebooks), then the PRS-600 can read them "as is" but for the Kindle you need to first remove the DRM (encryption) and then probably format shift to MOBI. Most Adobe PDF ebooks display ok on the PRS-600, but there are artifacts like the original paper book's pages still being honoured and sometimes nasty formatting.
Going forward, buy Adobe ePub for the Sony PRS-600 (many ebook stores) or buy primarily from the Kindle Store for the Kindle . |

Amazon has ONLY taken books that were illegally uploaded to them......and has always refunded the money. Those who bought them, and then stripped them, still have them. You can still get a refurbished K for $219 with free two day shipping. 30 day return policy, full one year warranty. If you decide it isnt' for you, just pay return shipping, no restocking fee.....gives you time to see if the device works for your needs. http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...on=refurbished All that being said, the Sony is a great device also. |

Both are solid devices that will give you an exceptional reading experience.
That said, the Kindle is physically bigger than the 600. Amazon is selling the Kindle at a lower price than the 600. The Kindle has an integrated store where you can buy books right on the device. The 600 requires you to load books via your computer. 600 supports EPUB which allows you to buy from a large number of seller easily. The Sony has what I believe is the best navigation of any device. What I normally tell people is. If you have a large ebook collection or if you don't plan on buying many books (going to be reading mostly freely avaliable public domain books) than the Sony products are the way to go. If you don't have a large collection and are looking to buy books regularly, the Kindle is more convenient. |

I got a PRS 600 for Christmas, but I have not opened it yet. I want to make sure I can upload my educational books. Any advice would be awesome! Thanks |
