Reader won't charge

I let my 505 go flat & now when I plug it into the PC to charge nothing happens & it won't even pick up the device.

Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem & if so how they solved it?

When the battery is completely flat, it needs some initial charge before it can be recognized by the computer. Try just waiting, it will probably come alive after twenty minutes or so, once the battery has had a sufficient charge.

Not true, at least for 505 upwards. I don't have a wall charger and my battery has gone flat at least twice. It just need a bit more time through usb.

I don't think you could ever charge the 500 with USB.

Yup, sure can. Back before the update it had to be recognized by the os first or it would actually drain the battery sitting there waiting to connect.
