Firmware 33h?

I just received my Jetbook (all of 15 minutes ago), and when I went to check the latest firmware available, I decided to go directly to the FTP site. I found a newer version of the firmware than they have available on their website.

If you use FTP to go to Ectaco's ftp site (username anonymous, password your email address), you can get a directory listing of the available files (tons of 'em actually). There are 4 that appear to be for the Jetbook device, 0.30i, 0.33g-rus, 0.33g, and a 0.33h. Anybody looked at the H version?

The filename is: jl04_v033h.zip

The direct link (using the same format they use on their web page) is:

ftp://80.247.183.35/jl04_v033h.zip

I'm currently downloading it now, but their FTP site appears to be VERY slow.

Looks like the file dates are all 8/11/09, but the package was put together on 12/4/09?

Anybody else looked at this to see if it's something we should load?

**EDIT** I loaded the 33h file, everything appears to work fine, still no B&N DRM (didn't think it would, but I figured what the heck).

Thanks for the tip, grabbing it now. Getting some 75kb/sec which is not fast, but I've seen worse.

Well download is done, books all backed up to computer, firmware loaded to SD card.
Screwed up my nerves and started it updating. I sure hope this works because I am INCREDIBLY addicted to this little thing.

Will post more after update is done, jetbook is reloaded.

Not sure what it changes/fixes/breaks, but it at least SHOWS a new version number . I didn't have mine long enough with the 33g firmware to be able to say it made it any faster or slower either...

Just wish they'd add .lit files to the compatibility list directly, without converting. Seems that my .lit files are formatted better than the resultant epub files that Calibre outputs. B&N DRM would be nice as well.. Wonder if there'd be a way to pull whatever they use for DRM on the Lite and put it on the regular Jetbook?

Well the update worked fine, was able to change up to a 4gb SD card. With the old firmware I was limited to 2gb. I'm in the process of reloading books now. Will throw a few other file formats at it to see what it will do.

Agree I'd love to see *.lit support.

DRM I really don't care about as I have not yet bought any books for it.

Update, It does do HTML now, which in itself was probably worth doing the update for.
Not appearing to see .lit or .doc files. File manager shows them as incompatible file types.

So at this point being able to use a 4gb SD card, and the HTML support seem to be the big ones I've found so far. Probably not a lot of change from 33g.

Was that a 4g SDHC card, or regular SD? Did you try any larger cards?

It was a Lexar 4 gig SDHC card (Black Friday price of 8$)
and its working like a charm. No, didn't have any other cards to try.

The 33g firmware works with HTML. That is most of what I read on it. I feed it the output from ereader2html and it works fine...

Just tried a 8g SDHC Transcend Class 6 card (from my digital camera), and it worked perfectly as well. Looks like the 2g max-size storage has been adjusted... Not that I'd fill up a 2g stick any time soon, but there ya go .

I have Transcend Class 6 16GB SDHC card and jetBook works fine with it. They have in the spec - up to 32GB support but I didn't try 32GB

I based the assumption that it wouldn't go above 2g on reading elsewhere on the 'net, but apparently the current spec for it does have the 32gb size mentioned. Wonder if that changed after a firmware update, or if it's always been that way?

Yeah, I was thumbing through the book that came with it a earlier, and noticed the 2g max limit stated in the book. Glad they fixed that, but the SD I'm using at the moment is a 2g anyway .

I was thinking about flashing mine with the newest Libra firmware (for the DRM Adobe functionality), but wanted to be sure there was a way to come back, anybody gotten that far yet?
