				PRS-600 with Manga

Hello, everybody. I am thinking about buying e-book reader. However, I decided to buy Sony PRS-600, But i have questions about reading manga on PRS-600 1. I have many manga files that are JPEG and PNG file, how can I convert these to PDF or Epub file for reading in PRS-600 2. Is PRS-600 the best choice for reading manga? Thank for everyone ! |

Well. You could load the JPG or PNG files directly onto the unit and view them as pictures, but management would be cumbersome. You could use some software to bundle all the images up into a single PDF file, then load that PDF onto the reader. So far, my experience (I've had my 600 a few days now) viewing PDF files with large images is very slow. When you have to zoom in and pan around the page it moves almost at a crawl, then takes a while to render the next page. I don't think you can convert graphic images into ePub files, but I haven't tried. To be honest, I would not say the 600 would be great for reading graphic image magna, but I don't think any eReader would be good for that purpose. Maybe someone else can help out here with suggestions? |

prs-600 is 800x600 res so you won't be able to read manga scans comfortably, resolution is too low. You need at least 1280x1024 imo. And 8" screen, that would be ideal |

You can Use winrar, bulk file renamer and calibre. Use winrar to create numbered archives, using the each directory to seperate file option, use the bulk file renamer to change the file extension to cbr, and then use calibre, which integrates comiclrf to convert them. In addition, to get the folders of images, it's very easy to use domdomsoft manga downloader.

Hello. I usually convert my cbr files to epub and load them on my reader. Since manga are small-sized I find that I can generally read them fine on my 6 inch screen without zooming. However, I prefer viewing manga on my 505 rather than the 600, because of the higher contrast of the screen.

Manga looks great on my Sony 505. I highlight the JPEG files, right click to compress the file with WinRar, change the extension of the compressed file name from .rar to .cbr and use calibre to convert it to a lrf file.

You can convert to cbr or cbz as mentioned above then convert from that to epub or lrf using calibre. BTW, calibre supports making epubs with tocs from comics in cbc files. |
