Hi! I just stumbled on this site and since I'm planning an buying one of the ereader devices in the near future, I thought I would check it out. I love that it's international. I'm looking forward to reading everyone's thoughts and suggestions.

Hi Lynn and welcome to MobileRead. I've had a Sony 505 since Jan 08 and really like it. Be sure and let us know what you finally decide on.

Thanks. When the Kindle first came out I was excited, then I saw Sony's eReader and loved that too. Now that Barnes and Noble is coming out with the Nook, well....I guess I just need to see what works best for me. I do like the lighness and look of the Sony. But I'm wishy washy right now so we'll see.

Fortunately, when I discovered the Sony, the Kindle wasn't yet available. Although I still think I'd have gone with the 505 which, BTW, I prefer to the 300 or 600. Haven't had my hands on a Nook yet nor the Sony Daily Edition so can't comment there.

I was going to get the 500 right after I discovered it in mid-07 but an anticipated gift certificate did not materialize for my birthday so I postponed till just after New Years 08 and was glad I did. Not only was the 505 a great improvement, I, by dumb luck, happened to walk into a Sony store ready to pay full price only to have the salesman offer me a window display for 40% off. It was in perfect condition so I grabbed it.

BTW, you might consider that. If you're near a Sony store ask them if they have a window display want list. If so, sign up and they'll call you after the holidays if your name is at the top of the list.
