Question Where to get a PRS-600 in/shipped-to Spain?

Hello,

I'm really excited about getting the PRS-600. It isn't exactly what I'm looking for, but, as they've already told me, such a thing doesn't exist. So, the PRS-600 looks featured enough and within my price range.

My problem now is: How do I get it in/shipped-to Spain (more precisely Barcelona)?

Thanks for your help!

You can look at Amazon.com, they send it (there're some shops which sell through it and send the Sony).

As far as I know amazon doesn't send electronic devices to Spain. Is that different for ebook readers?

It depends on the item. There was a kit with PRS-300 and cover that they shipped (it belonged to other shop) to Spain. I suppose you can find a PRS-600. And eBay is always an option, of course.

I got it from www.bhphotovideo.com , but it got more pricey because of VAT + duties etc.

I bought a PRS-600 recently in the US. In order to pay the cheapest price I used a mailforwarding company in the US for a small fee.

I used shipito.com and it cost me US$8.50 for their service.

Using a mailforwarding company will increase your range of shops, although not all will sell to you if you use one.

Good luck in getting the PRS-600

The shop I pointed you to above should send to almost any country, so you shouldn't need to use any mail forwarding service as probably all shops will sell it for $299.

I would recommend that you also get the AC adapter (although I heard that a PSP one will also work) and a cover (preferably the one without the included light, as you can get a more powerful light from somewhere else and just attach it to the cover - clip-on).

I got mine for US$281 which is with the $8.50 for the forwarding company still less. The saved money went straight to eBooks

I second the advise for the cover - I didn't buy one at the time and made my own now as I can't be bothered ordering one (shipping cost added).

I didn't buy a charger as I travel heaps and every country has different plugs. I just use the computer to charge the reader.

Wow! Thanks a lot for all your advice and recommendations.

I'm meeting a fellow member today who's gonna show me an Iliad v2. If it doesn't blow me off, I'll probably get the PRS-600 tomorrow from the US or ebay.

@katti's cat: Do you remember the shop where you got it for that price?

Hi, I bought mine in Spain: http://www.blauden.com/

The advantage, you get European guarantee. American guarantee from here might be very expensive if you have to send your device.

I think an AC adapter can be great: you won't be able to read while charging it from the USB, but you will be able to read when charging it using the adapter.

I find that most of the time when I'm at home I usually read with it plugged in so as to save my battery life.

Since PRS-600 is being sold in some European countries (UK, Netherlands etc.) you might be able to find an EU store that has it (and save on shipping and duties).

That's a good point. It'd be harsh to be in the middle of reading a book or a paper and have to stop because you have to charge the device. I'll take note of that.

Does everyone agree on getting a cover?

If you can get the book from a European store I would advise to follow that route. Just in case something goes wrong you won't have the hassle dealing with American Stores.

But having said that, I bought mine from . I actually ordered it through the Amazon site as it was still cheaper than ordering direct.

I definately recommend getting a cover while you order anyway. I didn't and now don't want to pay the extra shipping on top of the cover cost. So I made my own.
