Hello To Everyone!

Hey All!

I just signed up on here because I have a question with Calibre. But before I ask my question, I'd like to say I'm impressed with what I've seen so far here while checking the forum out.

Here is a little bit about me. My name is Kristie and I am happily married. My hubby is disabled and I am supposed to be his 24/7 caregiver, but with what the economy is like, I am forced to work outside our home to help make ends meet. I'm not complaining. I have a job that I enjoy and as with most things I try to make it fun. I am a registered Pharmacy Tech, but I transferred to the front of the store where I can meet, greet and deal with customers more. I am a people person and I love helping and making people smile and laugh. So, I work both in the front of the store and in the pharmacy. My transfer from pharmacy to the front of the store apparently is only on paper! LoL! That's OK! I need the working hours!

My life is good! Well, except I cannot get Calibre to run! LoL! I did do a search on here for my particular problem and was not able to find an answer. I'm hoping you can help me out. I was SO impressed with the demo video and I really want my Calibre running!

I recently downloaded and installed the Amazon Kindle for PC and heres my problem:

A friend told me about Calibre. (That's not the problem. ) I had a hard time getting it to download. It kept stopping as 97% on both download links. Finally! It completed! Yeah! I was so excited. But then....bummer. When I click to install, this is the message I get:

This installation package could not be opened. Contact the program vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.

I am at a loss as to what to do to fix the problem. I have been an avid eBook reader on my laptop for years and I SO want to be able to use Calibre!

I did do repeat downloads. The file size is 25.7 MB (26,953,346 bytes) and I am running Windows Vista. Is there a fix to my problem?
