Unhappy Suspicious

So after hearing about the pdf support and extra battery life I excitedly updated my Kindle 2. Shortly after I noticed that the basic web function seemed really slow. Then I noticed that the 3G icon was missing from the top so I watched it for a day or two and it never once hit it. I live in a big city and never had a problem before so my suspicious, cynical, only-slightly technical mind figures that the easiest way to get a huge battery life boost would be to nerf the wireless. Anyone know the truth of this and if so how can I rollback? I don't really care that much about ebooks, the free wireless was the entire reason I wanted the stupid thing in the first place and now it takes forever to open even small cell-phone formatted pages.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The 2.3 update has had absolutely no effect on wireless performance me, and there have been no other reports of such that I've seen.

I suggest that you ask Amazon if this concerns you, but I really think that you're barking up the wrong tree.

In fact mine actually seemed a lot better this evening. Normally I have trouble getting more than two bars of connection, but about an hour and a half ago I had a full five bars! Though mine is a Kindle DX.
