What's in the new 500 firmware?

I sent an email query to Sony about the new 500 firmware. They suggested I call the phone number, where people know nothing about the technical aspects of the firmware.

Will the new firmware continue to support the LRF format? I'd rather not re-convert the books I've already converted into that format (though I'm sure Calibre would do a fine job).

How much slower is it going to be after the firmware change?

Should I have them change the battery, once they have it apart, and how to I pay them for that??

The phone guys knew none of these things. I wish they had forwarded my email around for a few days, and rounded up the answers. They want to push instant-answers, but all I'm getting is instant-not-answers.
