Albert from CanalPDA send us the news that Research In Motion and Google have released a first beta version of Google Talk for BlackBerry. The tiny download of 200kb allows BlackBerry users (with a Gmail account) to communicate on Google Talk and any Jabber-based network, even simultaneously while using other Blackberry apps.

If you need an invitation to Gmail, simply post to this thread or use this link to provide Google with your mobile phone number.

Snappy, here is a try I've been using when sending invites to people. Send yourself an invite to a secondary e-mail of yours. The mail you receive contains the invitation link - don't click on it, but just send it (or pm it) to the person who asked for an invite

I have found that the link on Google's site doesn't work for me. It always fails on the graphic text recognition.

I loaded this up yesterday and chatted with a friend. It's pretty fast and works really well.

Only downside: you can only talk to Google Talk buddies. If anyone has figured out how to import other protocols in the BB version, I'd love to hear it. I recall this problem with the desktop version too.
