I read the appleinsider site regularly but wondered if anyone in the e-reader world has heard any thing relevant about the coming Apple reader device. I hear lots of "out there" descriptions of it as redefining how we use content. I'd like some planet earth descriptions of what it will be like and its various uses.

It's a long standing vaporware rumor. Just ignore it until you actually read something direct from Apple.

Go for a Search around the forums, particularly for anything referring to "tablet", and you'll find links and commentary.

Rumours have been around for years, and current rumours seem to be revolving around first quarter next year. Whether this will be another rumour-event-horizon, we'll have to wait and see.

Personally, I love following the rumours around, and enjoy the anticipation of, potential new products I might be interested in (be they computers, camera equipment, devices, gadgets, whatever). Often (eg. ebook devices) I even follow the rumours for products I am not actually interested in (i.e. not in the market for). An Apple Tablet is certainly something I am interested in, possibly to replace my current Fujitsu laptop (depending on its specs), and I keep an eye on the rumours, in my case mostly Mac Rumours. I don't think you're going to find much here that you haven't found already elsewhere, as often the stuff referred to here is from outside rumour anyway.

Still, it's (for me) fun, and I enjoy the hunt, even if it's a snark..
